If yes, did you meet her at a party, through cold approach, or have you been friends for awhile? If you met her at a party or through cold approach, you have a very short time window to meet up with her. And the ones that do get a chance, are ones that strike immediately before they forget about you. So say you got her number at a party. Most girls these days will hook up with multiple dudes in one night and not give a shit about you later.

This works especially well if you actually did make out with her and she remembered it.

They both come from wealthy Jewish-Iranian families. Rad has stated that the impetus for the app was his observation that “no matter who you are, you feel more comfortable approaching somebody if you know they want you to approach them. Rad has also stated that Tinder filled a gap for social sites for meeting strangers, rather than connecting with people a user already knows. Initially, instead of a swiping motion, users would click on either a green “heart” or red “X” to select or move on from the photos shown.

The average user would generally spend about an hour and a half on the app each day. Chatting on Tinder is only available between two users that have swiped right on one another’s photos. However, once you have matches on the app, you were able to send “Tinder Moments” to each of a user’s matches at once, allowing each match to like or not like the photos. The site also has verified profiles for public figures, so that celebrities and other public figures can verify they are who they are when using the app.

Tinder Plus users have up to five Super Likes a day. The app notifies the user if they have been Super Liked with a blue border that surrounds the profile of the person who Super Liked them. It then allows the user to either swipe right or left.

Trevor Every now and then an app comes along that changes how you go about your normal day. It helps you connect with people, become informed and stay up to date on popular trends. A new app called Yik Yak is one of those revolutionary apps that fills a niche and purpose that I find very helpful. If this is your first time hearing about the app, I will walk you through how to use Yik Yak from downloading the app in the app store to tips and tricks to get the most out of the app.

I will cover adjusting settings, the rating system, the peek feature, posting your own yaks and more.

As of June , If a user of Tinder who is below the age of 18 attempts to use the app, they are met with cards on their deck stating that Tinder is no longer usable by anyone under 18, and that the Tinder team is developing a new app especially for their age group.

Yik Yak , for those unaware, is an unholy yet moderately addictive app that combines the seminal aspects of 4chan and reddit , respectively. From there, users post functionally anonymously within threads, each poster is designated an image — e. Once a post or comment has a net-score of -5 — that is to say, overall more people downvoted than upvoted — it is deleted. While again, not inherently bad, the utilization of the system stifles dialogue and makes conversations either impossible to understand or eliminates them altogether.

What this system creates is one where any post or comment that is contentious or that one finds disagreeable is downvoted and rarely responded to. In fact, the ratio of downvotes to actual responses appear to be incredibly skewed in such a way that a contentious, yet interesting, post might be pruned before any discussion can take place about it. What this does, of course, is to homogenize the forum and turn it into an echo chamber where the same vanilla, Student ApprovedTM content is repeated day after day e.

Last January, my co-host Alex Goldman reported a story about racism, harassment and the internet set at Colgate University. Colgate University is a tiny private liberal arts school — just 3, students, way up in the mountains in Hamilton, New York. But not according to Melissa Melendez, who is a student at Colgate. Melissa saw that comment — and much worse — on an anonymous social media app called Yik Yak. People can post anonymously on Yik Yak about lame frat parties, or hot RAs or boring classes.

Messenger can now send money, make video and phone calls over the internet, and send stickers and animated GIFs with ease.

Many of the best social networking apps out there have been around for a while, but as smartphones get smarter, so do the apps, and you can now do more than ever. Facebook Messenger is becoming the one app to rule them all. Messenger can now send money, make video and phone calls over the internet, and send stickers and animated GIFs with ease. If the future is one app that does everything, Messenger is poised to be a big winner. Free Timehop will make you feel nostalgic. It’s like getting a window into your past life on social media every day.

Talk to your kids about what they post and how a post can spread far and fast. This can get kids in trouble if they say something in the heat of the moment. You may want to point out how much marketing strategy goes into the tweets of those they admire.

Is it weird that I think that I have the right to feel safe here, too?

WhatsApp is used by over million people around the world, and a whopping 30 billion messages have been sent through its servers. Its popularity took off because it uses an internet connection to send messages instead of traditional cellular networks, so messages don’t count against the allotment from your wireless carrier.

Free WeChat is huge in China. WeChat If you live outside of China, it’s unlikely that you use — or perhaps have even heard of — WeChat. You can use WeChat to do just about anything, including play games, send money to people, make video calls, hail a taxi, order food, buy movie tickets, read the news, book a doctor appointment, and more. Free Snapchat is the future of social media.

Snapchat With more than million daily active users and a primary audience of 18 to year-olds, Snapchat is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Free Twitter is where news breaks. When the riots in Ferguson, Missouri began, people on the ground shared firsthand accounts of what was happening there on Twitter.

And when events like the recent presidential primary debates take place, Twitter lights up with commentary, jokes, GIFs, and quick analysis. We’ll see if Moments, the company’s latest endeavor into curating the news and making the service appeal to a wider audience, will catch on.

Director Just Jaeckin sought to correct this oversight with his film Gwendoline later retitled The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak by using a character created by John Willie, an artist, fetish photographer, editor, and publisher of the soft-porn cult magazine Bizarre. Gwendoline was your standard damsel in distress, but in these comics the damsel was often nude when tied to the train tracks.

She would be captured and tied up, rescued by the hero, then captured and tied up. Repeat as often as needed. The movie opens with Gwendoline being abducted by a group of cargo thieves who, presuming a crate from Paris holds valuables, break into it only to find it holds a beautiful woman instead.

Sneaking around a city solely populated by women is pretty tricky business when one of your party is a dude, so they grab some disguises and Willard dresses up as one of the Amazons.

Jul 2, Where does a rape survivor go for support? As a anti-sexual violence trainer I frequently talk about the use of social media and how it can help and harm survivors of rape and sexual assault. At best, my relationship status with Yik Yak is tenuous: So when I train on social media, I include it. In my local area of downtown Salt Lake City, Yik Yak seems to be a forum for college students to try and find someone to get high, drunk, or hook up with.

When I travel, I periodically check what the local Yik Yak scene is. This is the post that stopped me dead in my tracks: My first thought was that this survivor was going to get trolled horrifically, but the majority of commenters were incredibly supportive. Now there was at least one person who was doubtful. But the community quickly put them in their place.

It was an amazing conversation to read and had me and my fellow trainers in tears.

While Yik Yak may provide some laughs to some, it is a festering example of anonymity gone wrong and offers only an illusion of actual debate. The biggest and most intrinsic flaw of Yik Yak is the anonymity it grants its users. Nine times out of 10 an anonymous poster with an audience will act like a gigantic asshat, as that is usually the easiest way to incite a reaction from their audience.

In Yik Yak, this dynamic can be easily examined in the wild by opening the app and finding any post that deals with a topic that could be considered troll bait.

If you open up the app and tap on the more icon at the bottom right you will get a list of options and settings.
